Anggota elit dewan siswa Akademi Shuchiin melanjutkan kejenakaan mereka sehari-hari yang kompetitif. Presiden Dewan Miyuki Shirogane setiap hari berselisih dengan wakil presiden Kaguya Shinomiya, masing-masing berjuang mati-matian untuk menipu yang lain agar mengakui cinta romantis mereka. Kaguya berjuang dalam batas-batas ketat keluarganya yang kaya dan tegang, memberontak melawan sikapnya yang dingin ketika dia menghangatkan diri pada Shirogane dan teman-temannya yang lain. Sementara itu, bendahara dewan Yuu Ishigami menderita di bawah beban naksirnya yang putus asa pada Tsubame Koyasu, seorang kelas atas populer yang membantu menanamkan kepercayaan baru padanya. Miko Iino, anggota dewan siswa terbaru, tumbuh lebih dekat dengan Ishigami yang melanggar aturan sambil berusaha untuk mengatasi kode moral otoriternya sendiri. Ketika cinta semakin mekar di Akademi Shuchiin, para petugas dewan siswa menyeret teman-teman luar mereka ke dalam konflik komedi yang semakin meningkat.
